Grand Marais 4th of July

Welcome to the M2Photoadventure website. This is a bit about our 4th of July in Grand Marais, Minnesota. You really can't get a more small town experience than the Grand Marais 4th. We camped at the municipal campground for three nights. One of the things we typically do when we stay at Grand Marais is to drive up the Gunflint Trail. We go in early morning or near dusk. We have had very good luck seeing moose at these times. On the fourth we say hawks, a bear and, thanks to Lail, a moose. This moose was found near the end of the trail by Seagull Lake.
One of our regular stops is at Trail Center which is about half way up the Gunflint Trail.

This terribly rainy day we enjoyed a hearty breakfast. If you continue up the trail a short ways you will find a wonderful wetland on your left. This is the favorite haunt of a mother moose and calf. This is true this year and was very true last year. We'll share those photos in a later journal story. The weather improved in the afternoon and we were able to watch the parade which consisted of maybe 5-10 entries which went around the block twice.

The evening concluded with a very nice fireworks display with a beautiful night sky. We photographed the fireworks from the south breakwater of Grand Marais harbor. 4th of July In Grand Marais is highly recommended.
